Weekly Prayers from the Parish

Prayers this week for our Parish and the wider world

PARISH PRAYERS

For the world... Please pray for refugees across the world but especially those who are risking their lives to cross the English Channel.  Ask God to grant compassion to all who are receiving, helping or intercepting the frail craft and their desperate passengers. (Matt. 25:40)

For the church... Prayers are asked for the Church in Mozambique as Covid-19 affects the country.  Many Christians are too poor even to have access to a spare bucket and soap for preventative hand-washing.  Lockdown has left fields unharvested, churches empty and consequently pastors have no income as they depend on the offerings of their congregations.

For our community... Many young people in our community will be making important decisions about their futures as they receive examination results.  Pray for them and for all who are guiding, advising and supporting them through this demanding process in uncertain times.

Prayer 2020…  Please pray this prayer on Thursday 20th of August; ideally at 20:20 i.e. 8:20 pm:
Living Lord Jesus, thank you for the festivals, Bible weeks and summer missions, many of which have moved online.  They are run by Christians from different denominations.  May the impact of all of us working together in unity continue through churches in every community so the many people will put their trust in Jesus Christ (John 17:20)

For those who suffer in body, mind or spirit:
Brenda, Robert, John, Janet, Melanie, Charlotte, Margaret, Amanda, Fred, Eileen, Juliet, Bryony, Barbara, Paul, Jane, Tom

….for the recently departed:
Ethel Swain; Sydney Jones; George Wilkinson;
Shirley Bunford; Angela Byers; George Walker;
John Gibson; Joyce Chambers; David Vining; Olive Janet Riley

                          + May they rest in peace and rise in glory
