                                                                                                                                 Funerals

Our clergy, are keen to offer you support and advice during what can be a very difficult time in your life; they can be contacted via the links on our ‘Contacts’ page.

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church. Everyone is entitled to either a burial service (funeral) or to have their ashes buried in their local parish churchyard whether they attended church or not. Do feel free to speak to us for more information.

When booking a funeral, in the first instance, you will need to make contact with a Funeral Director, who will in turn help you to organise the occasion and arrange for one our clergy to visit you in your home.

By way of continued support, we do invite the families and friends of those we have recently conducted funerals for to a Memorial Service. This is a gentle, reflective service where loved ones are remembered specifically and a candle is lit for each one of them.
The Parish of Berkswich and all three churches in it (Holy Trinity, St Thomas and All Saints) are committed to Safeguarding, and follow and have adopted the National and Diocesan Safeguarding policies.  You can visit the House of Bishops' 'Promoting a Safer Church' policy statement.

Our own current
Safeguarding Policy can be found here

If you have any concerns, please contact our Safeguarding Coordinator: Ms Mary Moss (07854 531619), or contact Fr Graham Adamson (01785 250357). Further information about Diocesan Safeguarding procedures can be found here.

Useful contact details for information about where to get help with child and adult safeguarding issues can be found on the Diocese's Safeguarding page, here.
