As part of our commemorations marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, local schools, community groups, uniformed organisations and individuals were invited to make a poppy, which was displayed in Holy Trinity, Baswich Lane.
The centrepiece of the display was a sea of poppies flowing along the roof of the church moving from red to white and culminating in the Dove of Peace (a symbol of the Holy Spirit) above the Altar, reminding us of the blood and sacrifice of so many people which has led to peace, and to our promise and commitment to seek peace in all we do.
Many thanks to all the groups involved in this project. If anyone wishes to view the poppies, church will be open each morning, and from 4pm-6pm Monday to Friday this week.
If you would like more information or have more questions, please email Fr Graham
