Ventures

Ventures are holidays for children and young people and are run by CPAS - this organisation exists to support the youth and children's work of local Anglican churches.(reg charity 271391) Their website is www.ventures.org.uk

About 100 ventures happen every year all over the UK and are totally run by volunteers. Ventures are opportunities for children and teenagers to have fun, meet new people, take part in exciting activities and also to learn more about God and what it means to be a Christian. There are daily Bible studies and discussions as well as lively modern worship.

 Hylton and I are volunteering on the Bakewell venture - we applied to the national headquarters of CPAS and they allocated us to a team who needed us. Our venture is for 10 - 15 yr olds. Dates are 26th July - 2nd August. Our daughter is attending as a member for her first time. Members at Bakewell pay a fee of £200 which covers accommodation in a boarding school, outings, food, activities and admin costs. Volunteers are asked to pay as much of the £200 each as they can manage - it costs about the same for us to eat and attend outings etc ! As you can imagine it is very difficult  as volunteers are using holiday time and working 16 hour days ! If volunteers do not pay then it means big increases for the children in following years and as a result less young people benefiting from these life-changing ventures as they simply won't be able to afford to go. As volunteers we are encouraged to ask our local churches to help support us financially - even 50p in the pot would help ! - and also by praying for the venture. If anyone feels they would like to support us in this mission work and help us raise some of our £400 then please pass donations on to the Parish Office. Any cheques made payable to CPV Ltd please. We will then pass these to our treasurer. Obviously gift aiding is possible as well as credit card payments, please check ventures website for details.
