Junior Church
Junior
Church
takes place on every Sunday during term time (except the third Sunday of each
month). We follow a programme of activities taken from the
Searchlights
series. This provides a series of activities and prayers which tie in with the
readings which are used in Church each Sunday. The children spend about 45
minutes in Junior Church where they will discuss the reading (usually the Gospel
reading) and then have an activity which often involves craft or drawing,
relating to this and a prayer.
They are then taken into Church at the end of the
Eucharistic prayer where they will receive a blessing.
They will have an opportunity
at the end of the service to show those in church what they have been doing in Junior Church.
If you know a young person between the ages of
4 and 12 years old who would like to join us please let us know. Children under
4 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
We would also like to hear from you if
you would like to help us. We have a team of volunteers who are willing to lead
on a rota basis.
We do however, need to have a second person present
on each Sunday. We would really like to encourage people other than the parents
of those attending Junior
Church
to get involved, as the parents are then able to come to Church without the
children. You don’t need to have any particular skills, as you won’t need to do
anything unless you want to – just turn up, you will also need to fill in a CRB
form if you haven’t done so. If you would like to know more you can contact us
by emailing
